Sunny Tseng, PhD

Hello! I’m Sunny, a bioacoustic ecologist whose career centers on bird-related research.

My research focuses on bridging field recordings to ecological insights by applying machine learning techniques. I analyze sound recordings with BirdNET and was part of the team that developed R packages to help expand its audience. Previously, I also worked on projects monitoring avian migration using citizen science data.

I earned my PhD in 2026 and am currently working as an independent ecologist, leading projects supported by Wildlife Acoustics and the R Consortium. I work with collaborators distributed across the globe, including Taiwan, Canada, Siberia, and Lithuania.

Beyond my academic pursuits, I am passionate about R programming (Github profile), scientific infographic design (portfolio), and field sound recording (Xeno-Canto profile). I also enjoy writing popular science articles in both Traditional Chinese and English.
